About CargoSum
I hold a degree in logistics and spent years working in ocean freight forwarding at a major logistics provider. That job meant CBM sheets, container stuffing plans and chargeable weight calculations every single day — usually against a deadline, usually in a spreadsheet that someone else had half-broken.
Tired of redoing the same volume math for my own forwarding team, I built my first cargo volume calculator — a small internal tool that turned a five-minute manual calculation into something instant. It kept getting used long after I expected it to.
After forwarding operations, I moved into freight software engineering, building freight management and container logistics platforms used by forwarders and shippers. That gave me the other half of the picture — not just how freight math is done by hand, but how it should be modeled, validated and shipped as software that operations people can actually trust.
CargoSum is what that first internal calculator grew into: a set of free, no-signup tools for the calculations forwarders, shippers and importers run constantly — CBM, chargeable weight, container loading, pallet counts and freight class. Every number is computed in your browser, sourced from published industry standards, and built to be checked against your own carrier's figures before you rely on it.
