Overview

CargoSum is a static website. Its calculators run entirely in your browser — the numbers you type into a tool are never sent to a server, logged, or stored anywhere outside your own device. There is no account system, no database, and no backend processing your inputs.

Local storage

CargoSum uses your browser's localStorage to remember your unit preference (e.g. metric vs. imperial) and, when you choose to save a calculation, your recent calculations for that tool so you can reopen them later. This includes the figures you entered. All of it stays on your device, is never transmitted anywhere, and can be cleared at any time from your browser settings or by deleting saved calculations in the tool.

Analytics and advertising

CargoSum does not currently run advertising. We intend to display ads through Google AdSense to support keeping the tools free, and this policy is written ahead of that so it is accurate from day one of enabling ads.

Once enabled, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info.

To understand aggregate traffic (for example, which tools are used), CargoSum uses Google Analytics 4, which sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_<id> to measure visits and distinguish devices. We use Google Consent Mode with analytics and advertising storage set to denied by default for visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, so those cookies are not set there unless consent is granted. Page addresses are recorded without their query strings, and the same applies to the referring page we report, so the figures you type into a calculator are not sent to Google Analytics. CargoSum also uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless, privacy-first service that reports aggregate page metrics without profiling individual visitors.
